Its valentine season ! Love is in the air. People are busy making creative gifts for their loved ones. I have also made a delicate and beautiful gift using quilling technique. A Photo frame in the heart shape with floral embellishments made using quilling techniques. I wanted to share it with you.It was easy and fun to make and the nice part was the quilling embellishments I made. It completely changed the look of the frame
Supplies Required :
Quilling paper (White, Green and Red)
My Method :
Take two A4 size cardboard actually I used an old notebooks binding cover since it was thicker than the ordinary cardboard
Draw a heart shape in the middle of one cardboard and cut it out
Now this is the basic for our frame
Take handmade paper and cover the heart cut out cardboard with it
While sticking the handmade sheet on the top cardboard leave a little extra on all four sides to fold it and stick behind the second cardboard
I loved this peacock blue colour of the handmade paper I used
The inside of the heart shape was like this after sticking the handmade paper on the first cardboard
This forms the top of the frame
Stick an OHP sheet behind the first cardboard
The photo has to be stuck on the second cardboard on appropriate position right below the heart cutout in the first cardboard. You can align it with the first cardboard to place it in proper position
After placing the photo keep the second card board behind the first and stick the excess handmade sheet by folding on all four sides
Now cut out another piece of handmade paper to cover the back side of the frame in exact size of the frame and stick it
The frame part is over the frame is ready now.
Next is the embellishments part
I made three flowers with quilling technique and stuck Rhine stones on the middle of them
I used three techniques for making the flowers tight circle, eye, leaves
These embellishments were stuck around the heart shape and now the frame has become awesome ! 🙂
I love the way it turned out !
Try making frames of your favourite shapes in the same way and do share with me how did you like these

As all of you know I am so very much addicted to DIY recycled crafts. I saw one of such a craft – cardboard vase here. As soon as I saw the post I set out to try this simple recycle craft :). It came out very well. I am using this vase as a center piece for my coffee table. Since I don’t get fresh flowers everyday, I kept money plant inside the vase. It grows in water so well and It looks Greeny all the time :). Here is how I made it with little variations from the original post.
Supplies you will need :
Cylindrical cardboard tube ( I used shuttlecock box )
Small Glass bottle (Planter)
My Method :
First step is to cut 1/2 inch strips of the cardboard.
Make sure you cut against the corrugations. The grains should be seen along the length of the strips.
Cut these strips into 1 1/2 inch pieces. You will need loads of such pieces so cut enough of them.
Now comes “The making of the vase”. Start arranging the pieces in the shape of a hexagon on the CD, this forms the first layer.
Place the cylindrical tube on the CD. Make sure the tube fits inside the hexagonal shape.
Arrange the next layer pieces alternatively on top of the first.
Continue arranging and glue the pieces around the tube until the tube is covered.
Once completed remove the tube outside and let the glue dry.
After drying again place the tube inside and place the glass plant bottle inside the tube.
Finally paint the CD with Black colour. This step is optional if you wish to have the shining effect of the CD you can leave it as it is.
Thats it Vase ready !
It comfortably sits on my coffee table 🙂 Such a simple and beautiful recycle craft adoring my coffee table 🙂
